What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel module (SWM) has detected that communication is missing with the angle sensor's control module on the CAN network. The fault may lie in that control module, in the steering wheel module or elsewhere in the network, since the central electronic module (CEM) oversees the communication.
Possible causes
- Fault in communication between the steering wheel module (SWM) and the other control modules
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in all control modules, since the fault may lie in another part of the communication network
- 2Check the battery voltage
- 3Clear the fault code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the steering wheel angle in live data and check that the value changes smoothly when the wheel is turned from lock to lock
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the steering wheel module (SWM), which is replaced in the event of a permanent fault
Symptoms you may notice2
- The traction control warning lamp is lit
- The stability control function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
