What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel module (SWM) has detected that communication with other control modules on the CAN network is disturbed, and the signal it receives is faulty. The fault can lie in the steering wheel module or elsewhere in the network, since the central electronic module (CEM) oversees the communication.
Possible causes
- Disturbed communication involving the steering wheel module (SWM) and other control modules
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in all control modules, as the fault may be somewhere else in the communication network
- 2Check that the battery has normal voltage
- 3Clear the fault code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the steering wheel module (SWM), which is replaced in the event of a permanent fault
Symptoms you may notice2
- The traction control warning lamp is lit
- The stability control function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
