What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel module (SWM) has registered that communication with other control modules over the LIN network is disturbed or missing. The fault can lie in the steering wheel module or elsewhere in the network, since the central electronic module (CEM) oversees the communication network. The cruise control is affected by the fault.
Possible causes
- Communication problems between the steering wheel module (SWM) and other control modules on the LIN network
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in all control modules, as the fault may lie elsewhere in the communication network
- 2Check that the battery has normal voltage
- 3Clear the fault code and road test the car; check that the cruise control works again
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the steering wheel module (SWM), which is replaced in the event of a permanent fault
Symptoms you may notice1
- The cruise control does not work at all
What the fault can affect1
- The cruise control is disabled until the steering wheel module receives a correct signal again
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
