What does this fault code mean?

The signal to line pressure solenoid STH is too high. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred but may not be present right now. The solenoid controls the line pressure in the transmission, so the fault can affect gear shifting.

    Possible causes

    • The control signal wire or the signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
    • The control signal wire and the signal wire are short-circuited to each other
    • Defective STH solenoid

    What you can do

    1. 1The fault is intermittent, so road test the car after the fault code has been cleared and check whether it returns
    2. 2Check that the connectors to the transmission and the control module are secure and free from corrosion
    3. 3Have a workshop check the wires to line pressure solenoid STH against supply voltage and against each other, and replace the solenoid if needed
    4. 4Remedy as necessary and clear the fault code once the fault is fixed

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • The general orange warning lamp is lit
    • The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
    • No gear shifts
    • No lock-up function

    What the fault can affect2

    • The control module's emergency program (Limp-home) is activated
    • There is a risk of too low line pressure in the transmission, which causes increased wear

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
