What does this fault code mean?
The control module has not received a signal from line pressure solenoid STH. The fault is intermittent, so it may have been present on an earlier occasion without being active now.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open circuit in the control signal wire or the signal wire
- Defective STH solenoid
What you can do
- 1Because the fault is intermittent it may be gone when you check: clear the fault code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connectors to the transmission and the control module for a firm fit and corrosion; twist the harness at them to see if the fault comes and goes
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop check the control signal wire and the signal wire to line pressure solenoid STH for open circuits and contact problems, and check the solenoid
- 4Remedy as necessary and clear the fault code once the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice4
- The general orange warning lamp is lit
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
- No lock-up function
- Gear shifts may feel harsh
What the fault can affect3
- The control module's emergency program (Limp-home) is activated
- Line pressure stays at its maximum all the time, which makes gear shifts harsher
- Gear slip times are not adapted when driving at high altitude
