What does this fault code mean?
The control module has detected a signal that is too high on the wire for lock-up solenoid SL even though the solenoid is meant to be off. The solenoid is then probably switched on all the time. The fault is intermittent, so it may have been present on an earlier occasion without being active now.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1The fault is intermittent: clear the fault code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connectors to the transmission and the control module are secure and free from corrosion
- 3Have a workshop check the signal wire to lock-up solenoid SL against supply voltage, since a short to supply voltage can cause the code
Symptoms you may notice5
- The general orange warning lamp is lit
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
- Gear shifts are harsh
- No gear shifts
- Gear shifts are irregular
What the fault can affect1
- The lock-up function is probably engaged all the time in second to fourth gear, which causes harsh gear shifts and engine braking in these gears
