What does this fault code mean?
The control module calculates the vehicle speed from the transmission's output rpm and compares it with the speed signal from the brake control module (BCM). The two signals should give roughly the same value. The fault code can be caused by a final drive that is not intended for this particular car.
Possible causes
- The final drive fitted is the wrong one for the car
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check that the final drive is the one intended for the car, and replace it if it is not
- 2Clear the fault code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the transmission output rpm with the car's speed in live data on a test drive and check that they roughly agree
- 4If the fault remains after the final drive has been checked, have a workshop check the transmission's sensors and control module
