What does this fault code mean?
The control module compares the signal from the gearbox speed sensor with gearbox rpm and with engine rpm to see whether lock-up is slipping or not engaged. If the signals do not match the expected values, lock-up is slipping or not engaged, and the fault code is set.
Possible causes
- Poor quality transmission fluid
- Water in the oil
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Lock-up solenoid SLU has stuck in the OFF position
- Mechanical fault in the transmission
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the transmission fluid level and quality, including whether there is water or metal particles in the oil
- 2Check the connectors on the transmission and the control module for contact resistance and oxidation, and reconnect them firmly
- 3Test drive the car and pay close attention to lock-up; if gear changes and lock-up work without problems, poor contact may have been the cause
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop measure solenoid SLU against ground and supply voltage, and check the cooling system pipes and connections to the transmission for leaks
Symptoms you may notice5
- The general orange warning lamp is lit
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
- No lock-up function
- Gear shifts are harsh
- The automatic transmission warning light blinks
What the fault can affect1
- The Emergency mode I program in the control module is activated
