What does this fault code mean?
The control module registers that the signal from the winter mode selector is too low. The signal is grounded when the W button is pressed and tells the control module to switch shift program, so winter mode does not work as it should.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Defective mode selector
- The winter (W) button has been held pressed for several minutes
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the W button shows OFF when it is not pressed and ON when it is pressed
- 2Check that the winter (W) button does not stick or stay in the pressed position, and shake the mode selector to see whether any parts are loose in the connector
- 3Clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop remove the mode selector and check the wire to ground, and replace the selector if it is defective
Symptoms you may notice1
- Winter mode does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses no substitute values for winter mode
