What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module drives the shift solenoids through its own power stages, which switch voltage to the solenoids when they are to be activated. The fault means the control module has an internal fault in the power stage for one of the solenoids S1 to S5.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the control module
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have diagnostic equipment? With the selector in P, activate S1 to S5 one by one; the status should toggle OFF and ON. If one does not, the control module is at fault
- 3If the control module is replaced it must be programmed by a workshop, as a new control module is supplied without software
Symptoms you may notice5
- General orange warning lamp on
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on
- No lock-up function
- Harsh gear shifting
- No gear changes
What the fault can affect2
- The control module stops activating all the solenoids, so no gear change can take place
- The Emergency mode III program is activated
