What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module receives a signal from the gear selector module (GSM) over the communication line. The fault means the signal from the gear selector module is too high.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- The communication line is shorted to voltage
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and check whether it comes back
- 2Check that the connectors between the transmission control module and the gear selector module are secure and free from oxidation
- 3Press the brake, move the selector through the positions and check that the gear shows both in the instrument panel and on the selector panel
- 4Have a workshop check the gear selector module and the communication line; if the fault remains, one of them may need replacing
Symptoms you may notice4
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on
- General orange warning lamp on
- No gear position shown on the gear selector panel
- General warning lamp on
