What does this fault code mean?
The gear selector module (GSM) registers the positions in Geartronic mode using three Hall sensors on its circuit board. The fault means the signals from the selector do not agree in Geartronic mode, so manual shifting does not work as it should.
Possible causes
- The gear selector module (GSM) is not working
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and check whether it comes back
- 2Press the brake and move the selector to position M; check that the position shows in the instrument panel
- 3Have a diagnostic tool? Read the gear selection in live data while moving the selector towards + and -; the value should update with each movement
- 4Have a workshop check the gear selector module and replace it if it is faulty
Symptoms you may notice2
- The transmission shifts as in D when the selector is in M
- No gear changes
What the fault can affect2
- No Geartronic function
- No manual gear changes
