What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has registered a signal that is too low for the battery voltage. The cause is poor contact or oxidation in the connectors to the control module and the transmission.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors to the control module or the transmission
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Inspect the battery's plus and minus terminals, plus the connections in the engine bay for loose connections and oxidation
- 3Check the connectors to the transmission control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Have a diagnostic tool? Read the voltage for the transmission control module in live data and compare it with the battery voltage; they should be roughly the same
Symptoms you may notice2
- General orange warning lamp on
- The automatic transmission warning lamp flashes
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
