What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module compares its power supply with a voltage value that the central electronic module (CEM) sends on the CAN network. The fault means the voltage is too low for the control module's function to be guaranteed.
Possible causes
- Battery voltage too low
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector to the control module or the transmission
- Internal fault inside the transmission control unit (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read off and clear the fault code, road test the car and check whether it comes back
- 2Check the battery condition and charge; a weak battery can cause too low a voltage
- 3Check the connectors to the transmission control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Have a diagnostic tool? Read the voltage for the transmission control module and for the central electronic module in live data; the two values should be roughly equal
Symptoms you may notice2
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on
- General warning lamp on
What the fault can affect1
- The Emergency mode 1 program is activated
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
