What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) assesses the quality of the gear changes. The fault means that the quality of the gear changes in the transmission is too poor, and the cause may be a mechanical or hydraulic fault in the transmission.
Possible causes
- Mechanical fault in the transmission
- Hydraulic fault in the transmission
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes and deal with any other transmission fault codes first, since one of them may be the cause
- 2Read off and clear the fault code, road test the car and listen for clear noises or malfunctions in the transmission
- 3Check the connectors to the transmission and to the control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the transmission control system; this is a workshop task
Symptoms you may notice1
- General warning lamp on
What the fault can affect1
- The Emergency mode I program is activated
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
