What does this fault code mean?
The lock-up solenoid SLU has an intermittent fault: at some point the control module registered that the signal wire was short-circuited to supply voltage when the solenoid should not have been active. The fault does not have to be present now. The solenoid may then have been activated all the time, which makes gear changes harder.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Defective control module
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data whether the lock-up solenoid is active while driving, including when it should not be
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the lock-up solenoid has no contact with the battery positive
- 4Check that the wiring to the gearbox is not chafed or pinched
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the control module and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice4
- The automatic transmission warning lamp flashes
- The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
- Gear changes are harsh
- Gear changes do not occur or are irregular
What the fault can affect2
- The control module starts the emergency program Emergency mode I
- The control module does not activate the lock-up solenoid
