What does this fault code mean?
The lock-up solenoid SLU is registered with an intermittent fault: at some point the control module found an open circuit in the circuit to the solenoid when it should have been active. The fault does not have to be present right now. The solenoid then cannot be activated, so the lock-up function fails while the fault is active.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Defective solenoid
- Open circuit in the power ground
- Defective control module
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, road test and see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors on the control module and the gearbox for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the lock-up solenoid is continuous, so that no part of it is broken
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the lock-up solenoid status in live data during a road test and see whether it can be activated
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the solenoid and the control module
Symptoms you may notice5
- The orange general warning lamp is lit
- The lock-up function does not work
- Gear changes are harsh
- The automatic transmission warning lamp flashes
- The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
What the fault can affect2
- The control module emergency program Emergency mode I is activated
- The control module does not activate the lock-up solenoid
