What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has registered that the measured current in the lock-up solenoid circuit is incorrect. The solenoid then cannot regulate the system pressure in the gearbox, which affects the lock-up function and gear changes.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connectors
- Open circuit in the control signal or signal ground wire
- Lock-up solenoid stuck
- Lock-up solenoid not working
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, road test and see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the lock-up solenoid status in live data during a road test and see whether the value changes when lock-up engages
- 3If the value does not change, the solenoid may be stuck or defective, and a workshop should check it
- 4Have a workshop check the wiring and connectors to the gearbox control module for contact resistance and open circuits
- 5If the checks show no wiring fault, have a workshop decide whether the solenoid or the control system needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice5
- The general warning lamp is lit
- The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
- Gear changes are harsh
- Gear changes do not occur
- Gears slip abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- An auxiliary program in the gearbox control module is activated
