What does this fault code mean?

The system pressure solenoid SLS has been registered with an intermittent fault: at some point the control module saw no signal on the circuit to the solenoid. The fault does not have to be present now. Meanwhile the control module can cancel all activation of the solenoids.

    Possible causes

    • Open circuit in the control signal wire or signal wire
    • Defective solenoid
    • Open circuit in the power ground
    • Contact resistance in the connectors
    • Defective control module

    What you can do

    1. 1Read and clear the fault code, road test and see whether it returns
    2. 2Check that the wiring and connectors from the gearbox are not chafed or have loose connections
    3. 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the system pressure solenoid is not broken
    4. 4If you have a diagnostic tool: see in live data whether the system pressure solenoid changes status while driving
    5. 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the connectors for contact resistance and oxidation, and the control module

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • The orange general warning lamp is lit
    • The lock-up function does not work
    • Harsh gear changes
    • The automatic transmission warning lamp is lit

    What the fault can affect2

    • The control module emergency program Emergency mode III is activated
    • The transmission limp-home program Limp-home is activated

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
