What does this fault code mean?
The line pressure solenoid SLS has been registered with an intermittent fault: at some point the control module received too low a signal from the circuit. The fault does not have to be present now. The system pressure in the gearbox then cannot be regulated, and gear changes become harsh.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the control signal wire or signal wire
- Defective solenoid
- Open circuit in the power ground
- Contact resistance in the connectors
- Defective control module
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, road test and see whether it returns
- 2Check the wiring from the gearbox for breaks, chafing and loose connectors
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the line pressure solenoid has continuity all the way
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the line pressure solenoid status in live data and see whether the value changes during a road test
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the connectors and the control module for contact resistance and oxidation
Symptoms you may notice4
- The orange general warning lamp is lit
- The lock-up function does not work
- Harsh gear changes
- The automatic transmission warning lamp flashes
What the fault can affect3
- The control module emergency program Emergency mode III is activated
- The transmission limp-home program Limp-home is activated
- System pressure is held at maximum all the time and the engine control module receives no request for torque limiting during gear changes
