What does this fault code mean?
The throttle solenoid SLT has an intermittent fault: at some point the control module saw a signal that was too high in the circuit. The fault does not have to be present now. The control module can then switch off activation of the solenoids, and the system pressure in the gearbox may become too low.
Possible causes
- Control signal wire or signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Control signal wire and signal wire short-circuited to each other
- Defective solenoid
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, road test and see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the solenoid have no contact with the battery positive and are not short-circuited to each other
- 3Check the wiring from the gearbox for chafing and pinch damage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: see in live data whether the SLT solenoid changes status when the gears shift
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the solenoid and the connectors to the control module
Symptoms you may notice5
- The orange general warning lamp is lit
- Gear changes do not occur
- The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
- The lock-up function does not work
- The automatic transmission warning lamp flashes
What the fault can affect2
- The control module emergency program Emergency mode I is activated
- The line pressure can become too low, which causes high wear in the gearbox
