What does this fault code mean?

Linear pressure solenoid SLC1 gives too high a signal: the control module has measured a current in the circuit above the permitted level. The solenoid cannot then be controlled correctly, which can cause slipping, harsh or failed gear changes.

    Possible causes

    • Control signal wire short-circuited to the battery positive
    • The linear pressure solenoid does not function
    • Internal fault inside the TCM

    What you can do

    1. 1Clear the fault code and road test the car; if it returns, the fault has not been fixed
    2. 2Use a multimeter to check that the control signal wire to the solenoid has no contact with the battery positive
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the SLC1 solenoid value in live data while gears are shifted, and see whether it changes
    4. 4If no fault is found in the wire, have a workshop check the solenoid
    5. 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the control module

    Symptoms you may notice5

    • The general warning lamp is lit
    • The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
    • Gears slip abnormally
    • Harsh gear changes
    • Gear changes do not occur

    What the fault can affect1

    • An auxiliary program in the control module is activated

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
