What does this fault code mean?
Linear pressure solenoid SLB1 gives too high a signal, because the control module measures a current in the circuit that is above what is allowed. The solenoid cannot then be controlled correctly, and gear changes may slip, become harsh or fail to occur.
Possible causes
- Control signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- The linear pressure solenoid does not function
- Internal fault inside the TCM
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code and road test the car
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the control signal wire to the SLB1 solenoid is not short-circuited to supply voltage
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: see in live data whether the SLB1 solenoid value changes when gears are engaged
- 4Check the wiring from the gearbox for chafing and pinch damage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the solenoid and the control module
Symptoms you may notice5
- The general warning lamp is lit
- The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
- Gears slip abnormally
- Harsh gear changes
- Gear changes do not occur
What the fault can affect1
- An auxiliary program in the control module is activated
