What does this fault code mean?

Solenoid SLB1 gives a faulty signal: the control module has registered a current reading in the solenoid circuit that does not match what is expected. The solenoid then cannot regulate the system pressure, which can cause harsh, missed or slipping gear changes.

    Possible causes

    • Contact resistance in the connectors
    • Open circuit in the control signal or signal ground wire
    • Linear pressure solenoid SLB1 jammed
    • Linear pressure solenoid SLB1 does not function

    What you can do

    1. 1Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it returns
    2. 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the SLB1 solenoid value in live data and see whether it changes when gears are engaged
    3. 3If the value does not change, the fault remains, and a workshop should check whether the solenoid is stuck
    4. 4Check that the wiring from the gearbox is not chafed or pinched
    5. 5Have a workshop check the connectors to the control module for contact resistance and oxidation

    Symptoms you may notice5

    • The general warning lamp is lit
    • The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
    • Harsh gear changes
    • Gear changes do not occur
    • Gears slip abnormally

    What the fault can affect1

    • An auxiliary program in the control module is activated

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
