What does this fault code mean?
The gear selector module (GSM) has received ten faulty messages on the network between the selector and the transmission control module. The fault is caused by interference in the communication, and manual gear changes and the gear indication may then be affected.
Possible causes
- Communication interference
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it comes back
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the winter mode selector (W) status in live data and press its switch; the status should change
- 3Have a workshop check the connector and the wiring to the gear selector
- 4If communication still fails, have a workshop decide whether the gear selector module needs replacing
