What does this fault code mean?
The TCM has seen a high voltage on the supply line to the gear selector module (GSM) even though its power is switched off. The fault can come from an open circuit in the supply wire, contact resistance or an internal fault in the GSM. If the selected gear does not update, the GSM needs checking.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the power supply cable to the gear selector module
- Contact resistance in the connector
- Fault inside the GSM selector module
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: depress the brake, move the selector to M and then towards -, and see whether the selected gear updates in live data
- 3Have a workshop check the supply wire and the selector connector for open circuit and contact resistance
- 4If the selected gear still does not update after these checks, have a workshop replace the gear selector module
