What does this fault code mean?
Hall sensor 2 in the gear position sensor gives a faulty signal to the transmission control module. The fault is due either to the gear position sensor being misadjusted or to an internal fault in the control module, and the engine may then not start.
Possible causes
- Misadjusted gear position sensor
- Internal fault inside the TCM
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: move the selector through all positions and check that the position in live data matches the display
- 2Have a workshop check that the selector cable is correctly adjusted and adjust it if needed
- 3If there are other fault codes for the transmission, have a workshop deal with them first, as they must be traced before this one
- 4If the code remains after calibration, have a workshop replace the transmission control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
- The general warning lamp is lit
- The engine does not start
What the fault can affect2
- Adaptation is blocked
- The control module uses the last selected gear position
