What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module has been unable to store some information correctly in its permanent memory. This covers fault codes and adaptation values, and the fault may lie in the control module software or in the control module itself. Gear changes may then become harsh or fail to occur.
Possible causes
- Internal fault inside the TCM
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check whether the control module software needs reloading, as the fault may lie in the software
- 2If the fault remains after reloading, have a workshop replace the mechatronic unit or the control module
- 3After replacement or reloading, have a workshop program the new control module, since it is supplied without software
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault codes after the workshop's work and check that this code is gone
Symptoms you may notice5
- Gear changes do not occur
- Harsh gear changes
- Gear changes take too long to complete, sometimes or all the time
- Gear changes are rough or jerky, sometimes or all the time
- No movement forward or in reverse when a gear is engaged
What the fault can affect2
- The control module uses a basic value for adaptation
- Stored fault codes may be lost
