What does this fault code mean?
Shift fork 3 has slipped out of gear 2 without the transmission control module (TCM) having requested any movement. The cause may lie in the mechatronic unit or in the transmission, and the other fault codes decide which action is needed.
Possible causes
- Damaged shift fork
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault codes from the transmission control module again to find out whether the fault is in the transmission or in the mechatronic unit
- 2If fault codes TCM-0410, TCM-0411 or TCM-0415 are set, a workshop should replace the mechatronic unit
- 3If none of these codes is set, a workshop should measure the speeds of the input shafts to decide which action is needed
- 4If the fault remains after the mechatronic unit is replaced and a test drive is done, the transmission is faulty and a workshop should replace it
Symptoms you may notice4
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- Gears shift hard or jerky, sometimes or all the time
- Shifts occur too early, too late or too often, sometimes or all the time
- Gear changes take too long to complete, sometimes or all the time
