What does this fault code mean?
Shift fork 1 moves away from the N position without the transmission control module (TCM) having requested any movement. The cause is either a hydraulic fault or the position sensor, and both can lie in the mechatronic unit.
Possible causes
- Fault in the hydraulic system
- Damaged position sensor
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault codes from the transmission control module and deal first with any codes that may share the same cause
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, check in live data whether the position value for shift fork 1 changes when the selector is in N
- 3Both fault sources are in the mechatronic unit, so a workshop should replace it, carry out a test drive and then read out whether the fault code remains
Symptoms you may notice5
- Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
- Text window with yellow warning symbol and message
- No forward or reverse movement with a gear selected
- Shifts occur too early, too late or too often, sometimes or all the time
- Gear changes take too long to complete, sometimes or all the time
