What does this fault code mean?
The input shaft speed sensor for odd gears gives a value that does not match the other speed values in the transmission. The sensor is also used to check the other two speed sensors, so the fault can affect how the gears are monitored.
Possible causes
- Damaged sensor
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault codes from the transmission control module. If several speed sensors show faults, the cause may instead lie in the control module
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, compare the input shaft speed for odd gears with the other speed values in live data while the car is rolling and see whether it deviates
- 3Check the connector at the sensor for the odd gears: see whether it is secure, clean and free from damage
- 4If the fault is inside the control module, it must be replaced; a new module is delivered without software and must be programmed by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- No forward or reverse movement with a gear selected
- Gears shift hard or jerky, sometimes or all the time
- Gear changes take too long to complete, sometimes or all the time
- Shifts occur too early, too late or too often, sometimes or all the time
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
