What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has found that the difference between the clutch torque and the engine torque is unreasonable for the clutch for odd gears. The comparison is made so that shifting can take place without damaging the clutch or the transmission.
Possible causes
- Clutch lining is damaged
- Engine torque differs from the calculated torque
- The properties of the hydraulic oil are incorrect
- Damaged clutch unit
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault codes from both the transmission and engine control modules, since the code may be stored alone or be a follow-on fault from another code
- 2Check the engine control module first, since a fault in the engine's torque signal can cause this code
- 3Have a workshop check that the hydraulic oil has the correct properties, since the wrong oil can cause this code
- 4Fault-tracing may show a fault in the transmission, in which case it must be replaced; otherwise the clutch unit may be damaged and a workshop should replace it
Symptoms you may notice5
- Text window with yellow warning symbol and message
- Gears shift hard or jerky, sometimes or all the time
- No forward or reverse movement with a gear selected
- Gear changes take too long to complete, sometimes or all the time
- Shifts occur too early, too late or too often, sometimes or all the time
