What does this fault code mean?

The pressure sensor for the clutch for even gears gives too high a signal to the transmission control module (TCM). The sensor shows the pressure on the clutch, so a wrong value means the control module does not get the right information to control it. The cause may be a sensor wire short-circuited to supply voltage or a damaged sensor.

    Possible causes

    • Pressure sensor short-circuited to supply voltage
    • Pressure sensor for the clutch for even gears is damaged

    What you can do

    1. 1Read out the fault codes from the transmission control module and deal first with any codes that may share the same cause
    2. 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the pressure sensor for even gears has no contact with the battery's positive supply
    3. 3The fault points to a damaged pressure sensor or a fault at its connection; the mechatronic unit must then be replaced, which a workshop should do
    4. 4If the fault is inside the control module, it must be replaced, and a new module is delivered without software and must be programmed by a workshop

    Symptoms you may notice5

    • Text window with yellow warning symbol and message
    • Gears shift hard or jerky, sometimes or all the time
    • No automatic gear changes
    • Gear changes take too long to complete, sometimes or all the time
    • Shifts occur too early, too late or too often, sometimes or all the time

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
