What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has received invalid data from the brake control module (BCM) over the CAN bus. Data from the brake control module, such as wheel speed and whether the brake pedal is pressed, is used in the transmission's control.
Possible causes
- Fault in the CAN communication between the transmission control module (TCM) and the brake control module (BCM)
- Damaged brake control module (BCM)
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Start by reading the codes stored in the CEM and the BCM, and remedy them
- 2Do not clear this fault code until the codes in the CEM and the BCM have been remedied and cleared
- 3Do not work on the brake control module or the electronics of the brake system yourself; have a workshop check it
- 4If the CEM and BCM show no codes and the fault remains after clearing, the transmission control module is the likely cause and needs replacing and programming
