What does this fault code mean?

One of the transmission's three power stages, power stage 1, is shorted to supply voltage. The power stage controls the solenoids LPS, SHSS2 and SHCMS in the transmission. The fault is caused by a damaged power stage or a damaged control module.

What you can do

1Read the fault codes. TCM-0522 usually appears together with TCM-02A0, so trace TCM-02A0 first. If TCM-02A0 is not present, continue with this one
2Clear the fault codes and drive the car to see whether TCM-0522 comes back
3Have a workshop check the solenoids and their wiring with diagnostic equipment
4If the fault remains after TCM-02A0 has been fixed and it is in the control module, the transmission control module must be replaced by a workshop
