What does this fault code mean?
The measured current through the main pressure solenoid LPS is too low compared with the requested current. The solenoid sits in the transmission's mechatronic unit and controls the transmission's system pressure. The cause is a damaged solenoid, a damaged or dirty connector or circuit board, or a damaged transmission control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged solenoid
- Connector or circuit board damaged or dirty
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes, clear TCM-0554 and drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop open the transmission control system and check the solenoid for corrosion, poor contact, dirt or metal build-up. Check the oil level
- 3If the fault cannot be found or fixed, have a workshop replace the mechatronic unit
Symptoms you may notice4
- Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
- Unusual noise from the transmission
- Shifts hard or jerky
- High idle speed
