What does this fault code mean?
Hydraulic pressure on clutch 1 (odd gears) reads lower than requested. The transmission builds hydraulic pressure for both clutches using a hydraulic pump and solenoids. The cause may be a low oil level or one of several damaged parts, such as a pressure sensor, a temperature sensor or a valve.
Possible causes
- Low oil level
- Damaged pressure sensor
- Damaged output stage, solenoid CSPS1
- Solenoid CSMS1, for clutch pressure, is damaged
- Damaged valve CSM1, which routes the pressure between clutch and gear shifting
- Damaged temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes, clear TCM-05A3 and drive the car to see whether the code returns
- 2Have a workshop check the transmission oil level, since a low level can cause this fault
- 3Have a workshop open the transmission control system and check the solenoid and the oil level
- 4If the fault cannot be found or fixed, a workshop must replace the mechatronic unit
Symptoms you may notice5
- Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- Gear changes take too long to complete
- Shifts too early, too late or too often
- No automatic gear changes
