What does this fault code mean?
The hydraulic pressure is too high, so there is pressure on the clutch when an odd gear is engaged or disengaged. The fault may be caused by a low oil level, or by a damaged solenoid, solenoid CSMS1, valve CSM1 or pressure sensor.
Possible causes
- Low oil level
- Damaged solenoid
- Damaged solenoid CSMS1
- Damaged valve CSM1, which routes the pressure between clutch and gear shifting
- Damaged pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes, clear TCM-05C2 and drive the car to see whether the code returns
- 2Check the transmission oil level yourself, or have a workshop do it. A low level can cause the fault
- 3Have a workshop open the transmission control system and inspect the solenoids and valve CSM1 visually
- 4If the fault cannot be found or fixed, a workshop must replace the mechatronic unit
Symptoms you may notice5
- Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- No forward or reverse movement with a gear selected
- Shifts hard or jerky
- No automatic gear changes
