What does this fault code mean?

Solenoid CSMS2 has an open circuit. It controls the cooling flow over the clutch for the even gears and decides whether valve CSM2 routes the pressure to shifting or to the clutch. The fault is caused by a damaged solenoid, a damaged or dirty connector or circuit board, or a damaged control module in the transmission.

    Possible causes

    • Damaged solenoid
    • Connector or circuit board damaged or dirty
    • Damaged transmission control module (TCM)

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the fault codes, clear TCM-05D0 and drive the car to see whether it returns
    2. 2Have a workshop open the transmission control system and check solenoid CSMS2 visually for corrosion, poor contact, dirt or metal build-up
    3. 3Have a workshop check the transmission oil level
    4. 4If the fault cannot be found or fixed, a workshop must replace the mechatronic unit

    Symptoms you may notice5

    • Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
    • Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
    • Shifts hard or jerky
    • No automatic gear changes
    • Shifts too early, too late or too often

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
