What does this fault code mean?
Solenoid CSMS2, which controls the cooling flow over the clutch for the even gears and decides whether valve CSM2 routes the pressure, is shorted to ground. The cause is a damaged solenoid, a damaged or dirty connector or circuit board, or a damaged control module in the transmission.
Possible causes
- Damaged solenoid
- Connector or circuit board damaged or dirty
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes, clear TCM-05D3 and drive the car with gear changes to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop open the transmission control system and check solenoid CSMS2 and its wiring visually
- 3If the fault was found and fixed, the mechatronic unit can be refitted. Otherwise a workshop must replace it
Symptoms you may notice5
- Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- Shifts hard or jerky
- No automatic gear changes
- No forward or reverse movement with a gear selected
