What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has lost all communication with the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN network. The cause may be a fault in the engine control module, a fault in the central electronic module (CEM), or an intermittent open circuit or short circuit on the CAN wiring between the engine and transmission modules.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module (ECM)
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Intermittent open circuit or short circuit on the CAN wiring between the engine control module and the transmission control module
What you can do
- 1Start by reading the fault codes stored in the CEM and the engine control module, and fix any that are present
- 2Do not clear TCM-0A00 until the fault codes in the CEM and the engine control module have been fixed and cleared
- 3If no fault codes are stored in the CEM or the engine control module, have a workshop trace the CAN network with diagnostic equipment
- 4Clear TCM-0A00 once everything has been fixed and drive the car to see whether it returns
