What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module gets a faulty or missing signal about the accelerator pedal position from the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN network. The transmission uses this signal during adaptation. The cause may be a damaged sensor, a defect inside the engine control module, or a defect inside the transmission control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged accelerator pedal sensor
- Defect inside the engine control module (ECM)
- Defect inside the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the CEM and the engine control module, and fix them first. Do not clear TCM-0A34 while they are still present
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the accelerator pedal position in live data and check that the value changes smoothly as you press and release the pedal
- 3Have a workshop check the accelerator pedal sensor and trace the engine control module with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- The car may feel weak or lack power when pulling away from a standstill
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
