What does this fault code mean?

The transmission control module has no reading from the right front wheel sensor, or it regards the reading as faulty. The wheel sensor measures the wheel's rotational speed and sends it to the brake control module (BCM), which passes the vehicle speed on to the transmission over CAN. Because this code is stored, the fault is in the brake control module, and that is where the fault tracing should begin. In the meantime the transmission uses a basic value.

    Possible causes

    • The fault lies in the brake control module (BCM)
    • A CAN wire that is intermittently broken or shorted, linking the brake module to the transmission module
    • Damaged wheel sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the fault codes in the CEM and the brake control module, and fix them first. Do not clear TCM-C003400 until the root fault is fixed and its code is cleared
    2. 2Have a workshop trace the brake control module and the right front wheel sensor with diagnostic equipment
    3. 3Once the fault codes are fixed, drive the car and see whether the code returns
    4. 4The brake system is safety-critical. If you suspect a fault, have a workshop check it

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • No noticeable symptoms for the driver

    What the fault can affect1

    • The transmission control module (TCM) uses a basic value for the signal

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
