What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module receives the requested torque limitation signal from the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN network. The signal is missing or invalid. The transmission uses it to decide shift points and to adjust system pressure. The fault lies in the engine control module, and tracing is carried out from there.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module (ECM)
- A CAN wire that is intermittently broken or shorted, between the transmission module and the engine module
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the CEM and the engine control module, and fix them first. Do not clear TCM-C007486 until they are fixed
- 2Have a workshop trace the CAN network and the engine control module with diagnostic equipment
- 3Clear TCM-C007486 once the root fault is fixed and drive the car to see whether it returns
Symptoms you may notice5
- Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
- Engine stalls at idle when a gear is engaged
- Engine stalls on braking
- Lock-up does not work
- Shifts hard or jerky
What the fault can affect2
- The transmission control module uses the requested torque signal that the engine control module sends out on HS-CAN 2
- If the torque signal on HS-CAN 2 is also faulty, the transmission control module uses a basic value and the transmission runs an auxiliary program
