What does this fault code mean?
Communication between the transmission control module and the gear selector module (GSM) over the LIN network does not work, because the signal from the gear selector is judged to be faulty. The cause is a communication wire shorted to supply voltage or ground.
Possible causes
- The LIN wire is shorted to supply voltage or ground
What you can do
- 1With a diagnostic tool, read the winter program (W) status while pressing the switch in and out. It should change. If not, the fault is probably permanent
- 2Have a workshop check the communication wire for a short to ground or supply voltage
- 3If the fault remains and the wire shows nothing, the gear selector circuit board may be faulty. Have a workshop try a new one
Symptoms you may notice2
- General warning lamp lit
- Gear selector indicator does not function
What the fault can affect2
- Manual mode (MAN) is disabled
- Winter mode (W) is disabled
