What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns CAN communication between the gearbox and the engine control module. The transmission control module has registered that the communication wires are shorted to ground, which disturbs the exchange of information between the control modules. It is one of several codes that describe faults on the same wires.
Possible causes
- Short to ground in the CAN wires
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the wiring between the gearbox and the engine has not chafed against the body or other metal
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires have no contact with ground with the ignition off
- 4Check that the connectors are fully engaged and free from oxidation at both control modules
- 5Have a workshop read CAN communication with diagnostic equipment and replace a control module if the fault remains
