What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named after the brake booster pressure sensor, it concerns the speed signal from the brake control module (BCM), which the transmission control module receives over the CAN network. The transmission control module uses the signal to check the gearbox speed sensors. The code is set when the signal is missing or flagged as incorrect, and then neutral control is blocked.
Possible causes
- Fault in the brake control module (BCM), which sends the speed signal
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, follow the speed signal in live data during a road test and check that it updates smoothly in line with the car's speed
- 3First read and fix the fault codes in the brake control module (BCM), then clear the code in the transmission control module
- 4Do not work on the brake system or the brake control module (BCM) yourself; have a workshop carry out the troubleshooting there
Symptoms you may notice1
- General warning lamp on
What the fault can affect1
- Neutral control is blocked
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
