What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named unstable system voltage, it means the transmission control module has registered that the supply voltage is too high. The module monitors the voltage all the time. The cause may be a battery charger that gave too high a voltage, a damaged generator, a damaged battery, or poor contact.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation at the connector on the transmission module or in the gearbox
- A battery charger with too high a voltage has been used
- Damaged battery
- Damaged generator
- Internal fault in the transmission control module
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, compare the voltage in live data with the engine running; it should be roughly the same as the battery voltage
- 3Check that the battery terminals are clean and tight, and that no battery charger is connected
- 4Have a workshop check the generator and the charging system for too high a charging voltage
- 5Have a workshop troubleshoot the CEM and the wiring if no fault is found in the transmission control module

- The malfunction indicator (Check engine) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- The automatic gearbox shifts harshly or jerkily
