What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module has registered that the supply voltage is too low. It monitors the voltage and compares it with the value from the central electronic control module (CEM). The cause may be a weak or damaged battery, a damaged generator, poor contact in the transmission control module, or an internal fault.
Possible causes
- Battery voltage too low
- Poor contact or oxidation at the connector on the transmission module or in the gearbox
- Internal fault in the transmission control module
- Damaged battery
- Damaged generator
What you can do
- 1Check the battery condition and that the terminals are clean and tight
- 2Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment, compare the voltage at the transmission control module with the CEM value in live data; they should be roughly equal
- 4Check the connector to the transmission control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the ground wire to the transmission control module has no open circuit
- 6Have a workshop check the generator and the charging system, and troubleshoot the CEM if no fault is found in the wiring or components
