Show models by year and engine (1)
What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module does not have the same configuration as the one the central electronic control module (CEM) sends out on the CAN network. The code can also be set when communication between the transmission and the CEM has been interrupted. It can appear when a used module with different software or hardware has been fitted to the car.
Possible causes
- Wrong CAN configuration ID, for example a used module with different software or hardware from what suits the car
- Open circuit in the CAN wires between the transmission control module and the central electronic control module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Has a used or otherwise different transmission control module been fitted to the car? It may not suit the car; have a workshop check this
- 2Read the fault codes in all control modules and fix any other communication faults first
- 3With the ignition off, check the CAN wires between the transmission and the CEM for open circuits, chafing and loose connectors
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the CAN wires are not shorted to ground or supply voltage
- 5Have a workshop read and troubleshoot the CAN network with diagnostic equipment and replace the module that communicates incorrectly
Symptoms you may notice2
- General warning lamp on
- Missed gear changes
What the fault can affect1
- The control module switches to an emergency program
